Blushes: The Best of the Collection

IMG_0864

There are a few select products I have rather serious relationship with. Enter blush. There is something that is so naturally beautiful about flushed cheeks. I’m a huge fan. Plus it wakes up a pale face in the morning like nothing else (except for freezing arctic winds… hello Indiana.) Anyway, here are my top 5 favorites. When I wear blush (which is everyday) it is almost always one of these beauts.

IMG_0873No. 1: Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Dollface.

At first glance this blush appears to be a baby doll pink. In fact you might not think that this color would look good on, but I assure you, it does. This color is the one of the natural looking, and the longest lasting blushes I have every worn. I think that the lasting power must have something to do with the clay. This is my absolute favorite blush of all time.

IMG_0872No. 2: Revlon Photoready Blush in Flush No. 200.

This is a firm, creme blush. It looks like it will be a crazy bright pink once on, but with some careful blending, it looks very natural. Because it is so creamy, it almost melts into the skin. It is rather pigmented though, so not much is required. The only downside to this product is the packaging. The lid comes off of the base really easily and then everything else in your makeup bag gets coated.

This is somewhat of a cult classic. I think it is probably pretty rare to find someone that hates this stuff. I will not on this one that the pigment payoff is really great, but that also requires a light hand when applying, unless you want to look like you’ve just spent several hours in the sun.

IMG_0870No. 4: Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Fresh Pink

This blush is perfect for swoon worthy Kate Bosworth-esque cheeks. When I wear this blush, I smile and swipe some along the bottoms of my cheeks in a semicircle shape. The color is very similar to Dollface (by Tarte), a light, soft pink. This formula does not melt into the skin. It sort of sits on top of it, so it can look really fake if too much is used.

This blush is unlike any other in my collection. It is really pigmented, very little product is required for adequate coverage. It is “clear”, not matte, but pink/coral tinted. The color is pretty, and it looks pretty natural on. It is brighter than any of the other colors mentioned in the post.

Also just as an after thought, here is a link the The Beauty Department’s Site. They just had a great post today on the best ways to apply blush. It was awesome; you should check it out!
